The first thing I asked myself was, why did they add the extra digit? They already established that platforms with the AMD processors have a 5 at the end like on the R715, which by the way, was the last generation that came with AMD processors. I’m going to assume they added that extra digit because while it might make sense to say the Dell R745 for a dual AMD EPYC processor version, what are you going to do with the single processor version, like the Dell EMC R7415? Let’s dive in… What’s new on this system? Well, the whole thing is new! Seven-series PowerEdge servers never came with a single-socket motherboard. However, with AMD’s new EPYC processors you can definitely get away with it…watch the video!
